1970-1978.Assistant at the Institute of History for Material Culture in Warsaw.
1970-1974.Took part in the interdisciplinary archaeological project in Sandomierz.
1978 - Ph.D.Received from the Institute for History of Material Culture.
1990 -Habilitation; Assistant Professor in the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
1995 - Present.Professor of Warsaw University (Institute of Archaeology), Director of Department of Early Medieval Archaeology.

1975-1981- Capaccio Vecchia (project with University of Salerno). Excavations and documentation studies.
1985-1986- Storvagan project. A Viking age settlement in arctic Norway (Lofoten Islands) (with Tromsoe University).
1987-1992- Excavation projects of the stone age, iron age and medieval times on different sites in Finmark and Troms (in cooperation with Tromsoe Museum).
1995-1999- (In cooperation with Consiglio Nazionale della Ricercha, Venice) studies of medieval ceramics from Laguna area.
2000 - Present- (with Slovakian Academy of Sciences in Nitra) - the common program in pottery analyses studies.
2000-2001- (With Seminar Vor- und Frühgeschichte of University of Frankfurt am Main) - project concerning laboratory and experimental research on medieval pottery.
2002-2004- Joint project "Archéologie et Territoire" (together with CNRS-University of Tours, University of Southampton and University of Brussels).

Actual projects (national level):
Archaeology of the frontier (since 2003-Present). Open settlements and fortified sites on the south-eastern borderland between Poland and Ukraine (western Bug River areas) during 9th-13th centuries.

Chełm Lands and the beginnings of the Polish and the Ruthenian States (research Grand of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, 2005-2006).

Publications:
ca 200 papers (books, articles, reviews) concerning prehistoric and medieval archaeology, methods for classification and analyses of ceramics, published in Poland and abroad.
